Key Players List of World Cup 2023 Suffering from Injury


In recent weeks,  players in crucial World Cup 2023 plans have been caught in the injury trap. The official start date of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is Thursday, October 5.

A total of 10 teams are playing in the World Cup 2023, out of which eight teams have injured players, whose list is as follows:

These key players, who were an important part of the upcoming World Cup plans, are uncertain about their participation in next week’s match due to injuries. World Cup 2023: injured players and the possibility of inclusion in the CWC 

However, if these people are not able to join the match, it will be a new challenge for the country team squads. Let’s take a look at some of the countries and their list of affected players.

Australia Injured Players In CWC 2023

Pat Cummins

Cummins, who was part of the title-winning squad in the 2015 World Cup, is suffering from a wrist injury he sustained during the Ashes. He was not fit for the Australia series but is expected to play in the India ODIs and also be a part of the World Cup 2023.

Steve Smith

Smith was the highest run-scorer in the 2015 World Cup winning campaign. He suffered a wrist injury in this summer’s Ashes series, due to which he could not play in the ODI series in South Africa. Although, it is hoped that they will be fully fit by the time of the World Cup 2023.

Travis Head

Head suffered a hand fracture in the fourth ODI between South Africa and Australia. Andrew McDonnell, the Australia head coach, later confirmed with X-rays that the hand had been fractured. Australia is now worried about including him in the squad as it is expected that he will not be fit for the start of the tournament.

Mitchell Starc

Mitchell Starc, who is an Australian player, is expected to return to India and it is widely expected that will be fit for the upcoming ICC World Cup. Starc suffered a back injury in the Ashes series. Australia lost the services of a key player Starc in the ODI match three against India.

Glenn Maxwell

Maxwell missed out on ODIs for South Africa. But this is not a new thing because they always do it because of paternity leave but one of the main reasons is that he got injured in his right ankle but hopefully, he will come back to the India squad.

Ashton Agar

Agar, a western Australian spinner suffered a torn calf muscle during the first ODI in South Africa missed two games and will not play the India series.

 It has recently been noted that Shinton Agar will recover from calf injuries and will be fit for Australia’s ODI World Cup.

Pakistani Injured Players ODI World Cup 2023

Naseem Shah

Naseem Shah suffered a shoulder injury during Pakistan’s second Asia Cup, which at first appeared to be minor but later came to be known to have serious consequences.

Most of the estimates are that Naseem Shah will miss the entire World Cup, but it depends on the second report from his scans, which will tell whether his inclusion in the World Cup is certain or not.  Therefore, an official announcement will be made.

Haris Rauf

Rauf, a legendary Pakistani player, suffered a side strain in the second Asia Cup match against India. Due to which he was excluded from Pakistan’s final Super Four game against Sri Lanka and as per Babar Azam’s statement, he will return for the World Cup 2023.

England Injured Players In ODI WCW 2023

Marked Wood

England player Mark Wood has not played the recent four-match series against New Zealand after the Final Ashes Test and has not been able to play a competitive cricket series because of his sore heel.

However, it is worth noting that there are quite a few chances that he will be fit by the time of the World Cup 2023.

Adil Rashid

It is worth noting that there is no official news of England cricketer Adeel Rashid’s fitness to play in the World Cup as he is suffering from severe calf tightness .Rashid got this cramp in the first match of the series against New Zealand.

Bangladesh Injured Players 2023 in World Cup

Najmol Hossain Shanto

Shanto suffered a hamstring injury while playing against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup 2023. He then went on rehab and was replaced by Latin Das in the Bangladesh squad. Hopefully he will play in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.

Ebadot Hossain

Ebadot Bangladesh cricketer player suffered knee injury while playing against Afghanistan in ODI series. Due to this injury, knee has undergone surgery, due to which his participation in the World Cup is almost uncertain.

Sri Lanka Injured Player 2023 in ODI Cricket World Cup

Maheesha Theekshana

Mahesh suffered a hamstring injury in Sri Lanka’s Asia Cup Super Force match against Pakistan.Initially, the report said the tear looked very swollen, but the scans now suggest that it should be on the mend.  And maybe Mahesh will be a part of the World Cup.

Dushmantha Chameera

Sri Lankan player Chameera is suffering from a shoulder injury that has ruled him out of the entire Asia Cup and there is no word yet on his inclusion in the World Cup.

Wanindu Hasarange

Sri Lankan player Wanindo has sustained a grade 2 injury to his thigh, according to MMT (manual muscle testing).  The possibility of his participation in the World Cup is very low.

Dilshan Madushanka

The Sri Lankan fast bowler suffered an injury during the Asia Cup in which he suffered calf muscle damage. There is no official news about his participation in the upcoming World Cup.

Shreyas lyer

Shreyas Lyer is an Indian player who suffered from back spasm but there are 99% chances that he will be part of the World Cup.

Axar Patel

Axar has to contend with an injury to left quadricep strain and his chances of inclusion in the World Cup are slim as the Indian squad has announced his replacement.

Anrich Nortje

Anrich suffered a back injury and his current report will tell whether he will be part of the World Cup or not.

Sisanda Magala

Mangala, who is a South African player, sustained a left knee injury in the South Africa series.

Their inclusion in the World Cup is based on a fitness test. However, South Africa has announced their replacement.

New Zealand Injured Players in 2023 World Cup

Tim Southee

Tim suffered a serious thumb injury during the final ODI, which required surgery. The surgery will take a week after which a decision will be made on his participation in the World Cup

Kane Williamson

During the Twenty20 Cricket League, Williamson’s ligament ruptured, due to which he has not played international cricket.
