ICC Cricket World Cup Golden Ball Winners List (1975-2023)


The Golden Ball Award is given to the top wicket-taker in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. Some of the best bowlers in the world, including Glenn McGrath, Shane Warne, and Muttiah Muralitharan, have won the award since its introduction in 1975.

The Golden Ball Award is a recognition of the bowler’s outstanding performance in the tournament. The award is sure to motivate the bowlers to perform at their best in the tournament.

Mitchell Starc is the only player to have won the Golden Ball Award twice. He won the award in 2015 and 2019.

ICC Men’s ODI Cricket World Cup Award Types

There are currently four post-tournament awards given at the Cricket World Cup:

  • ICC Golden Bat for the top run scorer. This award was first awarded in 1975.
  • ICC Golden Ball for the top wicket-taker. This award was also first awarded in 1975.
  • ICC Player of the Tournament for the outstanding player of the tournament This award was first awarded in 1992.
  • ICC Player of the Match in Final for the outstanding player of the World Cup final This award was also first awarded in 1992.
