Australia international cricketer Scott Boland has joined Durham Cricket, one of 18 first-class county clubs in England’s domestic cricket structure, for the 2024 County Championship and Vitality Blast season.
Durham Cricket is delighted to announce that Scott Boland, ahead of the club’s return to Division One in 2024, will be available for the club until the end of July.
The player is quite popular. A prime example of this is the 2021 and 2022 Ashes series, which saw him return an impressive figure of 6/7 as he bowled the visitors at his home ground in Melbourne. He beat England in just 21 balls.
It should also be noted that after his debut, Boland went on to play nine more times for the country, in which he took a career-best 35 wickets, including a career-best 6/7 wickets, which is famous as he took 18 wickets during that Ashes series.
Scott also took five wickets in last summer’s World Test Championship final, helping Australia to a 209-run win against India.
International player Boland, a 34-year-old player on the first-class field with Victoria, took 349 first-class wickets with a best of 7/31 and led Victoria to a Shuffle Shield victory over Australia in 2015.
Boland, who is part of the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League, will feature with Durham in the 2024 Vitality Blast campaign
With 75 T20 wickets to his name, Boland has had major short-form success with the Hobart Hurricane and the Melbourne Stars, as well as international selection for Australia in both white-ball formats.
However, in 2016, he further highlighted his success by winning the IPL selection for the Rising Pune Supergiants.
Boland’s Words on Joining Durham
Scott Boland had his words on joining Durham: “I have great ambitions and high spirits to join Durham for the coming season. After securing promotion in 2023, I am already looking to strengthen my skills and abilities.”
Doing my best to help Squid and Durham compete for the championship in Division One.

Marcus North review:
“Scott is a huge signing for us as we look to challenge in Division One next season,” Director of Cricket Marcus North said.
He added that there was a proven international fast bowler that we identified to further strengthen our fast bowling group.
Elaborating further on Scott Boland, he also said that he is someone we have been talking to for a long time, and securing the signature of a top international bowler outside the T20 World Cup shows Durham Cricket in Full intent to go in 2024.
